How to tag frames in elevations?

1. Load Tags

Metal Framing comes with a sample Structural Framing Tag family used in Tagging Configurations.

Follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Load Families

  2. Uncheck Main Families

  3. Check the Sample Tags box

  4. Click OK

Sample tags will appear in Project Browser > Families > Annotation Categories:

Note: loaded tags will be used in Smart Tags (Tagging Configurations) to automate tags in assembly views.

2. Setup Tagging Configuration

  1. Open the Create Assembly menu

  2. Click on Smart Tags (at the bottom)

  3. In the pop-up menu, choose Configurations

  1. In the configuration, select Structural Framing

  2. In the browser below (Tags by Priority), select Structural Framing

  1. In the Tag 1 tab, select the tab Horizontal Elements

  2. Choose the Tag Type > Structural Framing Tag: Standart or other tag family type:

Horizontal Elements represents horizontal tracks (Top Plate, Bottom Plate, Blocking/Nogging, Header, Sill, etc).

  1. In the Tag 1 tab, select the tab Vertical Elements

  2. Choose the Tag Type > Structural Framing Tag: Standart or other tag family type:

  1. Save the changes

3. Use the Tagging Config in the Drawing Configuration

  1. Open the Drawing Configuration:

  1. Set the Tagging Config for the Elevation Front/Back views. Smart Tags configuration will be used in Drawing Configuration > Views Tag > Tagging Config:
