To explore the capabilities of the Smart Documentation solution, we provide sample Architectural and Structural Revit models (version 2022). Inside you will find that each Revit view includes instructions on applicable configurations.
Smart Documentation's features, including dimensioning, tagging, view and assembly creation, numbering, and more, are driven by configurations. Configurations are sets of instructions defining tasks for specific elements or views. They are reusable across projects, providing efficiency and consistency. Configurations can be downloaded below.
Important notes:
Smart Documentation is designed for extensive flexibility and customization, enabling a wide range of applications beyond the examples provided. The examples provided in the sample models represent just a small fraction of the software's potential applications.
Feel free to experiment with configuration settings. If needed, revert to the original sample configurations by redownloading them.
Sample configurations can be applied outside our provided models, but be prepared for potential variations. For instance:
Tagging configurations rely on specified tag families. If you don’t have the tag family with the same name in your model, tags won’t be placed. Adjust the configuration to use your tag families or import tag families from the sample model.
Some configurations utilize filters that may not align with your model. Adapt filters as necessary.
In Predefined Dimensions configurations, specified dimension references (e.g., reference planes) may differ in your families. Modify references accordingly.
By default, Smart Documentation comes with an empty set of configurations and users can create more and modify them as needed.
Instructions in the sample models are referencing specific configurations. You can download these configurations here:
Configurations from both Architectural and Structural models are combined. In the Architectural model, use configurations starting with "A," and for the Structural model, use those starting with "S."
Once you download it, place the downloaded ZIP file to a folder where you prefer to keep your configurations. Extract the compressed ZIP file to a folder. You can delete the ZIP file afterward.
In Smart Documentation toolbar, go to Settings -> Configuration Filesʼ Location.
In the next window, specify a folder location and click Save & Close. Make sure it is the extracted folder. All configurations are now available to use.
