# Is it possible to frame walls of a linked model?

It‘s not possible to frame original walls/floors/roofs of a **linked** **Revit** or **IFC** model.

As an alternative, users can use the **Copy/Monitor** tool from the Collaboration tab. After **picking the linked model**, users must use the **Copy** tool to create copies of selected walls/floors/roofs.

However, there are a few **limitations** with this workflow:

* Copy/Monitor only works with **linked Revit models**. It doesn't support the linked IFC files.
* **Before copying walls**, users must **first create wall/floor/roof types** with layers that match the linked type layers.
* Metal Framing **doesn‘t recognize** the difference between linked model **windows or doors** and treats all openings as if they were generic openings.
