# Smart Dimensions

{% endhint %}

**Smart Dimensions** is a tool used in AGACAD's Wood/Metal Framing, Precast Concrete, and Smart Views applications to automatically get dimensions of elements in the view. The tool may be used while creating views automatically through the configurations of those solutions, or it could be applied in any user-created Revit view.

[**Read the in-depth Technical Documentation on Smart Dimensions here**](/common-for-several-products/smart-dimensions.md)

You can access Smart Dimensions configurations through Smart Views configuration window:

Alternatively, you can go straight to the Smart Dimensions menu and configurations:

Once you have prepared the configuration, you can apply it to any view:

Alternatively, you can add the configuration that you set in Smart Dimensions to the Smart Views configuration, and it will be applied to selected views while using the Create Views command in Smart Views

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.besmart.software/common-for-several-products/smart-views/smart-dimensions.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
