How to dimension frames in elevations?

Use existing sample Dimensioning Rules or create your own to dimension frames in assembly elevations.

1. Use sample Dimensioning Rules

Sample Drawing Configurations include ready-made Dimensioning Rules which you can already use to dimension frames in elevations.

  1. Go to Drawing Configuration:

  1. In the View Tab > Dimensioning Rule column, use the sample rule Frame:

Below are the example outputs using this configuration:

  • Output with a frame without openings:

  • Output with a frame with an opening:

2. Create new Dimensioning Rule

  1. Find a created wall assembly in the Project Browser > Assemblies

  2. Open the Elevation view:

  1. In Wall+M, open the Create Assembly menu

  2. Click on Smart Dimensions (at the bottom):

  1. In the pop-up menu, click on Delete Dimensions in View and pick any dimension

  2. Then click on Configurations button:

  1. Create a new configuration

  2. Rename it - use any name you want:
