Shop Drawing Workflow

1. Numbering

After framing walls, you must Number Walls and Number Elements. Learn more

The order of numbering does not matter. However, it's recommended to number walls first. Learn more


2. Load Tags and Schedule Templates

Metal Framing comes with:

  • Sample Structural Framing Tag family used in Tagging Configurations:

  • Schedule templates that can be used in the Drawing Configuration

Follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Load Families

  2. Uncheck Main Families

  3. Check the Sample Schedules and Sample Tags boxes

  4. Click OK

Sample schedules will appear in the Schedules section of the Project Browser

Note: loaded sample schedules will be used as schedule and material takeoff templates in Drawing Configuration.

Sample tags will appear in Project Browser > Families > Annotation Categories:

Note: loaded tags will be used in Smart Tags (Tagging Configurations) to automate tags in assembly views.

3. Modify Drawing Configuration

  1. Open Drawing Configuration:

  1. You can duplicate, rename or delete the sample Example Configuration (optional):

  1. Make changes to views, schedules and sheet templates:

4. Create the First Assembly

  1. Click Create Assembly and pick a framing element from a chosen frame.

  2. Go to the new assembly in the project browser. Drag and drop the views and schedules onto the sheet:
