How to modify Opening framing configurations?

This guide explains how to modify framing configurations for windows, doors and openings.

1. Modification methods

You can modify through the Modify Frame feature or through the Framing Configurations dialogue.

  1. Go to Modify Frame in the Wall+M/Floor+M/Roof+M

  2. Select an element around the chosen opening (Header/Sill/King Stud/Cripple, etc)

  3. You'll be directed to the configuration settings of the chosen element

  4. Follow the tips below:

2.1 Add a double component

2.2 Add a double, flipped component

Note: if the first element(s) already has Depth by Layer parameter checked, make sure to check for the new element as well.

If the first element doesn't have a checked box, leave it unchecked.

2.3 Save the configuration

You have two options:

A. Save it as a new opening configuration by renaming it in the dialogue - if you want to apply it to the specific opening width ranges, you'll need to apply it in the Framing Configurations.

B. Overwrite the existing configuration (recommended) - openings within the pre-defined width range can be framed or re-framed with the new settings:

If you've already modified the opening using Modify Frame, skip the step no 3.

  1. Click on the Modify Frame feature

  2. Pick any opening framing element (King Stud/Header/Sill/Cripple/etc)

  3. Make the design changes (skip if you've already done it)

  4. Click OK in the dialogue

  5. Click Yes to overwrite the configuration

  6. Click OK to close the dialogue:
