How to shorten the Headers/Sills at the inner King Studs?

1. Two methods to modify

There are two ways to modify the configurations - through the Modify Frame feature or the Framing Configurations dialogue.

2.1 Check the linked configuration

  1. Before modifying Framing Configurations, make sure to check which configuration you need to modify:

2.2 Modify Configuration Settings

  1. Go to Framing Configurations

  2. At the top-left, ensure the Configuration Name is the same as in the Link Wall dialogue

  3. Go to Modify Configuration Settings tab

  4. Scroll a bit and check the box Connect Headers to Internal King Stud/Trimmer Joist

  5. Click Save

3. Method B. Modify Frame

  1. Click on the Modify Frame button

  1. Select any element except for the opening element (do not select King Stud/Header/Sill/Cripple)

  2. Go to Wall Framing (left) > Modify Configuration Settings (top right)

  3. Check the box Connect Headers to Internal King Stud/Trimmer Joist

  4. Above the tabs, click on the small button with dots (...)

  5. Click OK in the dialogue (if you rename, you'll create a new Framing Configuration that has to be linked with a Wall type)

  6. Click Yes to overwrite the configuration

  7. Click OK to close the dialogue

Now, all the new and re-framed frames will have the Header/Sill extending to the inner King Stud.
