# Smart Tags

{% hint style="info" %}
The **Smart Tags** tool is included in many **Be.Smart** solutions. It can be used individually or in combination with other solutions such as **Wood/Metal Framing, Precast Concrete, Smart Views, and Smart Assemblies**.

In the **Smart Documentation** toolset, it appears under the name **Tags**.
{% endhint %}

Smart Tags provides an efficient way to **batch-tag elements from multiple categories simultaneously**. You can configure **custom tagging rules based on element properties**, allowing for greater flexibility in tag selection, positioning, offsets, and more.

Smart Tags operates based on **configurations**, which define how elements should be tagged. Users can create different configurations for various tasks, reuse them as needed, and collaborate with colleagues on shared configurations.

This tool works in **any user-created Revit view** or for **selected elements**.

It can also be combined with [**Smart Views**](/common-for-several-products/smart-views.md)**,** [**Smart Assemblies**](/common-for-several-products/smart-assemblies.md)**, and Wood/Metal Framing** for **pre-tagged batch view creation**.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.besmart.software/common-for-several-products/smart-tags.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
