# Configuration

The configuration window is divided into **three sections**: **Part Layout**, **Division Profile**, and **Opening**.

***

### Part Layout

**Vertical, Horizontal**– select if parts should be vertical or horizontal within the wall.

When **Vertical** layout is selected, **Width** represents the horizontal distance, and **Length** represents the vertical distance.

**Division Horizontal/Vertical Offset** – adds division offset from the wall right or left side.

**Second Row Overlap Distance** – overlap distance between part layouts if **Vertical layout** is ticked.

**Placement Direction** – predefine paneling direction: From Start, From End or From Both Sides.

***

### Division Profile

**Division Profile** – apply the pre-loaded profile and settings to part edges along dividers.

**Horizontal/Vertical Gap** – specifies the distance between divided horizontal and vertical parts. The default value is 0, which results in no gap.

**Horizontal/Vertical Division Profile** – apply the pre-loaded profile you select from the drop-down list to part edges along dividers. The default value is None.

**Horizontal/Vertical Profile Edge Mirrored** – specify how the profiles on the other side of a divider gap will be oriented.

***

### Opening

**Opening** – predefine top, bottom, left, and right part offsets from a window, door, or other opening.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.besmart.software/3d-modeling-and-design/smart-connections/split-parts/configuration.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
